A gift

What finesse it is to give with joy!,

to captivate with an unexpected detail,

to please with a delicate motive,

to surprise a heart with harmony.

For what would life be without giving?

What would it be if the one who waits is forgotten?

What would it be if the one who gives is not appreciated?

What would it be if the night did not see the day?

There might be, perhaps, a better way out:

to calm the thought that seduces

and to listen with an embracing gaze.

To gift the good that leads us on high

and offer love dreaming of welcomes;

to ensure that our lights do not dim anyone.
